Unable to obtain image list - Granular backup - Error NFS

I need a solution

Hi !

I don't can backup sharepoint and exchange with granular option.

I has been configure NFS Service as docoumentation "NetBackup7.6_AdminGuide_SharePoint.pdf".

When I search information in logs of server i found this :

Description:
Windows(R) Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) failed a request to connect to Active Directory Domain Services(R) for Windows user <domain.lan\SV_account_sharepoint>.

  Without the corresponding UNIX identity of the Windows user the user cannot access Network File System (NFS) shared resources.

  Verify that the Windows user is in Active Directory Domain Services and has access permissions.

This warnning has create during backup.

I need active Unix identity in Active Directory ??

I try test manually mount nfs as here  https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH124... and it's OK !

Threshold of 90%

I need a solution

Hi!

Client want to know if  expired backups from our DR server can dedeleted. Right now they are above the threshold of 90%.

I believe expired backups are subjected for overwrite right?

What is the workaround if threshold of 90% is reached?

How to find maximum block size for tape device.

Hi All,

We have netbackup 7.1 installed on Solaris server. We are using LTO4 & LTO5 tapes for backup. I need a help to find the maximum block size for LTO4 & LTO5 tapes. Is there any way to find it out from netbackup end.

Some NDMP jobs are there in my environment and Data buffer size for NDMP is 64kb which reduce the backup throughput. I wanted to change it to 256kb for better performance but before that I wanted to check the maximum block size of tape.

Error 48 No Host name found

I need a solution

We have are running Netbackup 7.5.0.5 on SUSE Linux 11 server. I added a policy for a Windows Server 2012 R2 running client version 7.5.0.6. We are getting an error when trying to backup Error 48 No hostname found.

I can ping from the Linux server to the Windows server and vice versa

The client section in Netbackup sees the client and gives all of the particulars when selecting it. 

Need some help here...

Why will the default-application-backup run with manual backup

Hi,

master redhatlinux65 netbackup master 7.6.1.0

client redhatlinux65  netbackup client 7.6.1.0

I created two policys for oracle backup.

One is named "Full". Type of backup is Full backup.

Another is named "diff-incr" and its type of backup is Differencial incremental backup.

When I did manual backup for oracle, from the Activity monitor window, I can not see the policy named "Full" be run but default-application-backup was run.

Double click on the job, I saw that the policy type is Oracle and Job schedule is default-application-backup, schedule type is application backup.

Do anyone know how to disable default-application-backup and execute my policy "Full"?

Unable to login to Admin console.

I need a solution

Hi All,

   I am unable to connect to the admin console in the master server. And when tried from Java console, only BAR console opens. I have atached the screenshot of the same, what the error would be ?

  • Tested both forward and reverse hostname lookup, everything is fine.
  • Tried, bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache. No luck anyway.
  • The Client_Port_Window is already set to 0 0.

I am able to login to admin console from media servers, Please help me to fix the problem.

Hello Everyone

We have EMC datadomain used as storage target. Below are the details for that

                        Model                          DDOS Version             OST Plug-in version
            DD860/DD670/DD610            5.4.2.1-423209            2.4.1.0-289644    

I would like to implement NBU accelerator fetaure for few of the clients.

Accelerator requires OST plug-in at version 2.6 or later.

Does upgrading OST plugin on media server have any impact.

Can we upgrade OST plugin while backups are running or do we need to stop the backups?

Does it require to restart media server services after upgrade.

I need a solution

Hi,

I have a tape library with 4 drives . I have configured the diskstagging &  configured the schedule to write tha backups from disk to tape .

ThoughI have 4 drives when the duplication happens it takes either 1 or 2 drives & rest backups will stand in queue .

Do we need to so any settings in NB so that 4 pararrel jobs can run ?

Catalogue backup failing

I need a solution

Hello. I am testing 7.6.1.1 in my lab and I'm having a problem with my catalog backups. They are failing with a code 96 (unable to allocate new media for backup, storage unit has none available(96)). I compared with my production master and the policy is configured exactly the same. One thing that I can see being different is when the backup starts, the media server is the master itself. The thing is, the master is only active for disk and we want it to stay that way. The storage units are not using the master as media server so I don't understand that behavior... Anyone ever saw something like that?

Seeding an initial deduplication client backup with non-MSDP backup

I have used this procedure several times: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH144437.html
but always only as it was intended, using existing backups in the MSDP to seed new clients to the same MSDP.

So now I have a client with some large remote file servers which I want to pre-seed the central MSDP with before we attempt a client-side-dedupe backup over the WAN link.

I was thinking that theoretically I could dump the clients backup to BasicDisk/NAS at the remote site, have them ship it in to the central site, import the backup, and duplicate it to the MSDP, and use it for seeding. Before I spend time testing it, I wanted to know if anyone tried this or have a better idea?

NDMP Restoration success but no files restored

Hi experts,

I have got an issue with NDMP restoration. ( Netbtackup  6.0 , Sun Storage NAS 5320 )

I have few tapes which were having 2009 year data, when I am trying to restore the data and the tape was properly mounted and positioned, read, everything seems to fine.

The restoration says successful, But I could not find any files in the destination folder. No mater How many times I try to restore the result is same. i have checked for the

I have done reboots,  tape inventory , and power cycle also, But no luck.

Is there any thing that could solve my issue.

or is there any other possibility of sending mail alerts from master server without installing BLAT ?

Master server hostname = master

Media server hostname = svr

It's have the virtual ip

It's media server solaris 11 always error if run /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpautoconf -t "Failed opening the device mappings file".

And check with  /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -pn not fixed.

Hi Team, 

Below link provides the snmp MIBs location. is this MIB for the backup failure alerts of master server or is it only for opscenter server alerts ?

My purpose is to get the MIB's of Netbackup , so that it can be used to configure the backup failure , device failure , or any other failure alert.

or any other suggestion to configure SNMP alert would be really helpful.

Monitorinng tool is HP sitescope.
