Shared Robot Control Host

I need a solution

Hi,

I'm performing some resilience testing on a new netbackup environment and would like some advice please.

Environment consists of 1 Virtual Master + 4 Physical Media servers split across 2 datacentres ( 2 in each dc)

All are Windows 2008R2 enterprise, and NBU is 7.5.0.6

We have the Shared Storage Option.

Each datacentre has one Eternus LT60 library with 4 LT05 drives and each library and its drives are FC zoned to the media servers in the same dc.

When I configured the storage each robot was assigned a Robot Control Host which is (obviously) one of the media servers its zoned to.

Each media server has a tape storage unit and i''ve created a storage unit group for each dc consisting of the two media servers tape storage units that are in that dc

The test I'm trying to perform is to ensure that in the event of a media server failure we can still run backups in that dc by using the other media server.

The problem is that if i close the media server that is the Robot Control Host and try and run test backups the backup just queues with 'Media server is currently not connected to master server' - i was hoping it would just exclusively use the remaining media server.

I've read this post https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/how-move-robotic-controller-host

..and i attempted to change the Robot control Host to the remaining media server which failed as the existing Robot Control Host was unavailable.

..is my only option in the event this 'really' happens to delete the robot and drives and reconfigure storage units and robot to switch control to the remaining media server ?

thanks
