I want to exclude files like *.JPG , *.PST from the backup policies.
I am not using a Windows File Server, instead , i am using EMC Storage as CIFS , for a file server.
Hence i cannot see the windows client host properties option.
Backups are taken through NDMP agent.
Is that possible.

We have Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003, the netbackup server is version 7.5.0.4 and also the client version. We tried serveral times to restore, looks like run but it like hang, after we wait for more than 18 hours it didn't move. Bellow is the the error:

I've upgraded my Master Server from v7.5.0.3 to v7.5.0.6 which is running Solaris. Now i'm backing up Servers of different platforms (Solaris, Linux, AIX and HP-UX). For Solaris servers, i was able to 'FTP' the client software and installed it with no issues. Now i want to upgrade the other servers (Linux & AIX) but there's no install file on the clients folder under those 2 platforms and others, i only have a client for Solaris.
So now, how do i upgrade my other servers? i remember i had the same problem with v7.5, i had to download Netbackup 7.5 CLIENTS separately. If this is still the case, then where do i find them been looking everywhere.

I know this is not part of the backup itself as these are being done through the Vstorage API and seperate backup host rater than Netbackup clients. I expected to see comms between the master and Vcenter servers over 443 but nothing between the individual VM's. Because of the work we are currently undertaking I need to explain what this attempted comms is and why its happening.

Recently we had a problem like explained in this forum discussion. This topic has been closed but we experienced the exact same "problem" and I followed the TECH130103 to solve this.
I want to know the reason of this event from going from 1% to 30% after running the compact command manually. And also a way how we can modify this ? (if it's possible)
This is Backup Exec but the commands are the same as in NetBackup so maybe someone from here can help me ?
I launch 'bpbackup' command in my program and it just gives the return code. There is no way to know the corresponding JobId.
Before I launch the next backup, I want to check the status of the Previous backup and make some decision.
'bpimagelist' command can be used with 'keyword' as filter so that I can search my backup job uniquely. Problem is, it only lists the Successful backups.
'bpdbjobs' command can be used to list out all jobs (successful, failed, in progress) but there is no way to uniquely find the backup job because it does not support filtering the result with 'keyword' attribute.

Can anyone help me out in configuring the shared memory on solaris 10. Currently, netbackups are happening with 7mb/sec, so i've created SIZE & NUMBER buffer files to speed up the backups.However when the increase the value in SIZE file backups fail with "problems encountered during setup of shared memory (89). Currently no shared memory is configured on the machine.
2) Will there be any performance degradation with these BUFFER values when restoring

I am thinking of moving to Netbackup from a Backup Exec environment and I'm not sure I understand the Deduplication process of VM server in Netbackup. In BAckup Exec I select the VM server and I am doing a snapshot backup of the VMDK files. If I do a full backup of a VM in Netbackup with Client-Side Dedup enabled does it still do a snapshot backup or does it backup each individual file so when it does my next full backup it only backs up the chnages. Most of these VM's are App servers with a few file servers mixed in.

hi, i have several oracle database instances that need to be backed up. These are not RAC. I would like to use netbackup to schedule both hot and archive log backups. The hot backup seems simple enough using the samples. I would like to know the proper way to backup archive logs. On some servers these archive logs need to be backed up every hour. To make things 'simple' i am thinking about doing hot backups every night then the AL backups throughout the day. Please share some insight on how to do this the most efficient and effective way.
